As Ottewell Renewal continues to progress, we wanted to provide an update on what neighbours can expect over the coming construction season and raise awareness about changes and adjustments that are being made to support the community and minimize disruptions.Â
Adjusted Phasing, Reducing Disruption
As EPCOR finalizes its drainage work schedule, the Neighbourhood Renewal team has adjusted the City’s phasing plan to better align with EPCOR’s timeline.
This approach will help reduce disruptions, prevent rework, and respond to concerns raised by residents about the level of construction impact felt in the neighbourhood this past year.Â
Key Updates
Key updates to the plan include:
A revised three-year phasing schedule (2025, 2026, and 2027) to better coordinate with EPCOR’s work.
Minimizing disruptions by reducing the number of areas under construction at any given time.
Avoiding rework, as Neighbourhood Renewal construction will now follow EPCOR’s drainage work, minimizing the need for completed roadwork to be redone.
No budget impacts - when the original contract was issued, only the 2023 and 2024 portions were included to maintain flexibility with EPCOR’s evolving plans. This means no financial penalties or unexpected costs due to these adjustments.
With this new approach, the goal is to improve coordination, manage construction impacts more effectively, and ensure a smoother process for residents.Â
